The Grand Rapids Amateur Hockey Association lists 15 Star of the North weekends for 2026-27, from Nov 15, 2026 to Feb 28, 2027. All are at Yanmar Arena. The host page we read on Oct 15, 2026 has no hotel rule.

Which Grand Rapids tournaments run in 2026-27?

The host page lists 15 weekends, and 14 showed as full on Oct 15, 2026. Squirt B1 was the exception, with 3 spots available.

The host page does not say whether a waitlist exists for the full weekends. Ask the association before you plan around one.

The host posts Peewee B2 as Nov 15 to 17, 2026 on the official Star of the North page. Nov 15, 2026 is a Sunday, so the posted weekday does not match the other weekends. We are not guessing the correct dates and have no page for it until the host confirms.

What does the housing rule say?

The host page has no housing rule. We found no hotel, lodging or booking text on the Star of the North page on Oct 15, 2026, and none on the association home page.

That means there is no required hotel to quote, and no penalty to describe. Our records mark the stay-to-play status for every weekend as "unclear," not "none." Silence on a page is not a promise.

The rules PDF linked from the host page also has no hotel text. Your team's tournament packet or director may say more. Ask for it in writing before you book, and keep the answer.

Where are the games played?

All 15 weekends are at Yanmar Arena, 1401 NW 3rd Avenue, Grand Rapids, MN 55744, which is the venue address on the host page. The host's schedule spells the arena "Yanner Arena" on the three February rows (Squirt A, Squirt B2 and Squirt B1), which looks like a typo.

The association's home page names two rinks there, Yanmar Kauppi Rink and Yanmar McDonald Rink. Our record shows three rinks, and the host's rules PDF names the East, West and Pavilion rinks. Rink names differ by source, so confirm your game rink on the day's schedule.

Because it is one building, there is no drive between rinks. We found no sourced drive times from Minneapolis or Duluth, so we are not printing any. Map your own route and add time for winter roads.

Which hotels are near Yanmar Arena?

Ten hotels and motels in our venue data sit 4 to 6 minutes from the arena by our drive-time estimate on Oct 15, 2026. These are our estimates, not the association's list. None of them is named by the host.

We have no sourced details on pools, breakfast or parking for these. Call the hotel and ask about team rooms, the cancellation window and late arrival before you pay.

What should parents check?

Check the refund rule first, because it is strict. The host's refund page says: "If you withdraw your team within this 48 hour window, 100% of your registration fee will be refunded. However, if you withdraw from the tournament AFTER the 48 hour window for ANY reason, your registration fee WILL NOT be refunded."

The window runs from the registration confirmation email. Your manager should tell you when that email arrived.

Then check these before booking a room:

• Ask the manager in writing whether the team has any hotel instruction for your weekend.
• Choose a room with a free cancellation date that falls after your team is confirmed.
• Confirm your weekend and level on the Star of the North page, since dates are posted by the host.

Three weekends sit next to holidays. 15UA is the weekend after Thanksgiving, Bantam B1 is New Year weekend, and Peewee B1 is MLK weekend, with the holiday on Monday Jan 18.
