What do the baseball event pages say?
As of Oct 16, 2026, six of the seven baseball events in our data carry a stay-to-play rule. Best of the West 1 is the clearest: "This event is Stay To Play: 21 room nights (7 rooms for 3 nights) or an $1000 buyout is required to participate."
SoCal Summer Nationals sets 30 room nights. Its page says: "This is a Stay-To-Play event." It adds that you book "using your team's custom booking link that you receive after you pay the entry fee."
The same page names a fee. It reads: "Teams are required to pay an $1000 surcharge if the room night requirement is not met."
Myrtle Beach Summer Nationals says only: "This is a Stay-To-Play event." The page sends you to a lodging policy link for the rest. We did not use that link as a source.
Steamboat Mountain Magic 1 sends you to its lodging page. That page says: "This is a Stay to Play event. All travel teams are required to book rooms through our official lodging portal, EventConnect."
The page adds that your team "must meet the minimum required room nights using your custom EventConnect link to be scheduled for the event."
What do the World Series policies say?
The Vail Valley and Roaring Fork Valley pages share one 2027 policy PDF. As of Oct 16, 2026, it opens with: "The World Series is a Stay to Play Event."
The PDF sets the requirement in four categories, due "by May 1, 2027". The first category gives the minimum: "minimum requirement is 36 total room nights per team".
It lists an exemption: "Local Teams within 80 miles will be exempt." It also names a fee: "can choose to pay the Lodging Surcharge of $1500 on the event website."
On points and outside bookings, the PDF says: "Sorry, reward points will not count toward team room nights." It adds that reservations through a third-party provider "will not fulfill the lodging requirement."
What do the softball event pages say?
As of Oct 16, 2026, all 11 softball events in our data carry a stay-to-play rule. Eight event pages state a room night minimum or a stay-to-play rule. Southeast Nationals relies on its lodging policy PDF, and East Coast Summer Nationals and The Fort Frenzy rely on the lodging page their event pages link to.
Sunshine Classic reads: "Minimum of 18 room nights with a Triple Crown Lodging Partner". Ogden and Portland each read: "Minimum of 40 room nights with a Triple Crown Lodging Partner."
Midwest Summer Nationals says: "Minimum of 40 room night with Triple Crown Lodging Partner". TC Nationals says: "Minimum of 30 total room nights (ex: 6 rooms for 5 nights) with a Triple Crown Lodging Partner, booked inside of the TC Nationals block."
Triple Crown OKC says: "This is a stay to play event." It adds: "All teams must stay in one of our lodging partners in order to be scheduled into the event."
Zoom Into June sets 18 room nights. Teams must follow its Stay to Play policy. They book "with their personalized lodging link through Event Connect or pay the lodging surcharge by April 15, 2027."
East Coast Summer Nationals says: "This is a Stay to Play event. All travel teams are required to book rooms through our official lodging portal, EventConnect." The page tells you to review the Event Lodging Policy "for details on distance exemptions and total room night requirements."
What do the San Diego and Southeast policies add?
Both policies are PDFs, and both say outside bookings do not count. As of Oct 16, 2026, San Diego lists "a third party provider (i.e. directly with the hotel, Hotels.com, Expedia, Hotwire, Hotel Planners)", reward points and bookings "outside of the TCS room block".
It says these "will not fulfill your requirement". It then says the lodging surcharge must be paid "or your team will NOT be scheduled into the event."
The San Diego policy sets "minimum requirement is 40 total room nights per team" and a deadline: "(by July 1st)". It says: "Local Teams within 80 miles will be exempt." The fee it names is "the Lodging Surcharge of $1200 on the event website."
The Southeast Nationals policy opens with: "Southeast Nationals is a Stay to Play Event." Its numbers are "16 total room nights per team", a deadline of "(by June 4th)", and a surcharge of "$850".
Out-of-town teams can "apply (with proof of alternate lodging)" to pay it. The policy also says: "Local Teams within 80 miles will be exempt."
How does The Fort Frenzy fit?
The Fort Frenzy (May 22 to 23, 2027) has no housing rule on its event page, but as of Oct 16, 2026, its linked lodging page does. The event page has a "Lodging INFORMATION" link to the Triple Crown Fastpitch lodging page.
That page says: "This is a Stay to Play event. All travel teams are required to book rooms through our official lodging portal, EventConnect." It is the same page that East Coast Summer Nationals uses, and it gives no room night number.
The event page lists no separate lodging policy or lodging partners link, and the lodging page names no room night minimum. Ask the host which minimum applies to your team. Our page for it is The Fort Frenzy.
Which event states no housing rule?
The Colorado State Championships (Jul 9 to 11, 2027) is the one event with no stay-to-play wording, as of Oct 16, 2026. We found none on the event page.
Its Lodging Partners link goes to a HotelPlanner page, which we did not use as a source. Ask the host before you assume either way. Our page for it is Colorado State Championships.
What should a parent check?
Open the policy for your event and read the number yourself. The wording differs, and so do the minimums, the deadlines and the fee.
- Find the room night minimum and the date it is due. Several policies put the due date in the text.
- Ask your manager how the team's room nights are being counted.
- Check the rule on reward points and third-party bookings before you use either.
- Keep a copy of the page you read, with the date.
Our Housing Fairness score treats a required hotel rule as a cost to weigh, and the stay-to-play guide explains the term. The cancellation guide covers what to ask before you pay.

Frequently asked questions
Are Triple Crown Sports tournaments stay-to-play?
Most are. On Oct 16, 2026, 17 of the 18 Triple Crown Sports events in our data say so on the event page or the lodging page it links to. The Colorado State Championships page states no housing rule that we could find.
How many room nights does Triple Crown Sports require?
It varies by event. The pages we read range from 16 total room nights (Southeast Nationals) to 40 (the Ogden, Portland, San Diego and Midwest events). Check your event's page, because the number is set per event.
What is the Triple Crown Sports lodging surcharge?
It is the fee some pages name for out-of-town teams that stay outside the Triple Crown lodging options. The amounts we read were $850 to $1500, depending on the event. Read the policy for your event before you pay.
Does a booking made directly with the hotel count?
On the San Diego and Southeast Nationals policies, no. They say reservations booked through a third party provider, including directly with the hotel, or booked outside of the TCS room block will not fulfill the requirement.
